Parenting through the Pandemic: Strategies for the Homefront for Staff and Faculty on the Frontline
As part of the outreach strategy to support the emotional health and well-being of faculty, staff and learners during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Unified Mental Health Group hosted this presentation and panel discussion from experts at Michigan Medicine. This webinar offers parents useful strategies and approaches to caring for their children and for themselves from a compassionate, non-judgmental, and practical perspective, with strategies and tips for parents working in healthcare professions as they navigate these new challenges on the “homefront”.  Slides are available here.

Psychological Safety with Michelle McQuaid, Ph.D.
Michelle McQuaid, Ph.D. provides an introduction of psychological safety in the workplace using evidenced-based research in positive psychology and neuroscience.  This session highlights ways to implement and incorporate small actions to build psychologically safe workplaces.

Reflect and Recharge Series (Michigan Medicine)
Leaders from the Adult Hospitals (University Hospital and Frankel Cardiovascular Center, or UH/CVC) are working with the Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience to develop a video series that will help faculty and staff pause and find ways to re-energize. The series, Reflect and Recharge, was launched as part of UH/CVC’s ongoing Short Takes bi-weekly video updates. Each new bi-weekly episode will focus on a specific topic and offer information, tips and resources to help employees recognize, assess and address their own needs.

Supporting Clinician Well-Being During COVID-19 (National Academy of Medicine)
This webinar addresses the existing clinician burnout crisis prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and the goals of the Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience. Experts identify the critical needs and priorities to support the well-being of clinicians, including those in their formative years of training, during the COVID-19 era. Programs, resources, and leadership efforts are spotlighted to address and monitor the acute and long-term mental health and well-being of clinicians on the frontlines of COVID-19. Talking Circles:  Unlocking the Power of Authentic and Inclusive Conversations (Michigan Medicine)
As part of the Michigan Medicine Employee Appreciation Week in September, Denise Williams and Phillip Lipka from Michigan Medicine HR hosted a webinar in an effort to provide tools on how to host talking circles. Due to COVID-19, a significant portion of the Michigan Medicine workforce is currently working remotely. HR is frequently hearing of the challenges in building and maintaining a positive and productive team while working remotely. Virtual Talking Circles can help team members (whether they work remotely or not) to connect with each other, share feelings, create a sense of cohesion and community, and reduce feelings of isolation and exclusion.
