Q: Does the Wellness Office serve faculty, staff and learners?

A: We serve all faculty, staff and learners across Michigan Medicine. We work with leaders and key partners at Michigan Medicine to focus on system-level strategies and best practices to improve workplace well-being at an organizational level.

Q: Does the Wellness Office provide counseling services?

A: No, the Wellness Office does not provide counseling services. Those seeking counseling or consultation services may contact the Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience (OCWR) at 734-763-5409.

The Wellness Office provides a coordinated and centralized website for faculty, staff and learners to find helpful resources to support their emotional health and well-being: wellnessoffice.med.umich.edu.

Q: How does the Wellness Office work with MHealthy?

A: The Wellness Office partners with MHealthy to promote their programs and services focused on individual level strategies to improve health and well-being. The Wellness Office collaborates with MHealthy on strategies that improve well-being at an institutional level based on trends they see in program utilization and feedback from their campus-wide initiatives. Both areas have the mutual goal of supporting an environment that allows people to thrive at work.

Q: How does the Wellness Office differ from Human Resources?

A. The Wellness Office works with Michigan Medicine leaders and key partners to focus on system level strategies and best practices to improve workplace well-being for faculty, staff and learners at an organizational level. Human Resources provides faculty and staff with support and resources related to employment, job performance and professional development. The Wellness Office partners with Human Resources on initiatives that address overall organizational well-being.

When experiencing any HR-specific concerns, first bring your concerns to your supervisor or team leader; they are often in the best position to get the information you need or point you to someone who can help.

The Office of Counselling and Workplace Resilience
When needed, the Office of Counselling and Workplace Resilience provides free and confidential counseling, coaching and stress debriefing services to help faculty and staff develop strength and resilience in their personal and professional lives.
