C.S. Mott Children's Hospital x Opportunities to Educate Children (OEC)

The Department of Child and Family Life at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital is partnering with the Opportunities to Educate Children (OEC), offering free virtual tutoring for the children of Michigan Medicine Staff.

About
The Department of Child and Family Life-Hospital School Program has a long-standing partnership with the University of Michigan student organization, “Opportunities to Educate Children” (OEC). Members of OEC volunteer in C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital throughout the academic school year supporting the learning needs of our children by providing supplemental instruction and enrichment, assisting them in achieving their academic goals.

Opportunities
The past few months of this school year were met with learning challenges of varying types. To continue to support the community, the Department of Child and Family Life are excited to continue offering school age children of Michigan Medicine employees access to free virtual tutoring. Tutors are available for Kindergarten - college and in most subject areas. All OEC tutors are University of Michigan students and volunteer in our children’s hospital.

Free and Contactless
Tutoring is free and is conducted via UofM Zoom. UofM Zoom is a parent/caregiver initiated free tutoring service for school-age children of Michigan Medicine employees.

Grand Valley State University offers free tutoring for K-12

Starting October 5, 2020, Grand Valley State University will be offering free tutoring to any K-12 student in Michigan who is in a full-time or part-time remote learning environment this school year.
